In a nail-biting encounter at the Salem Cricket Foundation Stadium on Saturday, the Nellai Royal Kings emerged victorious over the Siechem Madurai Panthers by a mere four runs in the Eliminator match of the TNPL. The high-stakes clash kept fans on the edge of their seats until the final ball.

Chasing a daunting target of 212 runs, the Panthers needed six runs off the last delivery to secure a dramatic win. However, left-arm spinner Mohan Prasath displayed nerves of steel as he held his composure against P. Saravanan, allowing just a single run and denying the Panthers a miraculous victory, despite being hit for a maximum off the penultimate delivery.

With this hard-fought win, the Nellai Royal Kings have earned the opportunity to face off against the Dindigul Dragons in Qualifier 2, scheduled for Monday, July 10, at the Indian Cement Company Ground in Tirunelveli.

NRK vs SMP: Eliminator Match Report

The Eliminator match saw the Siechem Madurai Panthers fighting gallantly until the last three overs. V Aaditya and Swapnil Singh played crucial roles in resurrecting their innings after the early dismissal of their openers, skipper Hari Nishanth and Suresh Lokeshwar.

The duo partnered a formidable 98-run partnership, propelling their team past the 170-run mark. However, Sonu Yadav and M Poiyamozhi of the Nellai Royal Kings turned the tide in their favour, ultimately securing an important victory.

In the first innings, after winning the toss, the Nellai Royal Kings unleashed a barrage of aggressive batting, amassing a commanding total of 211 runs in their allotted 20 overs.
