This victory not only boosts New Zealand’s standings but also intensifies the race for the WTC final, set to take place at Lord’s in 2025.

Impact of the Match on WTC Standings

New Zealand’s Ascent: With their victory, New Zealand has climbed to fourth place in the WTC standings, moving up two spots from sixth.

They now have four wins from nine matches, accumulating 48 points with a percentage of 44.44%. This win is crucial as it strengthens their bid for a spot in the WTC final.

India’s Position: Despite the loss, India remains at the top of the table with 98 points and a percentage of 68.06% from twelve matches played.

However, this defeat complicates their pathway to securing a place in the final, as they will need to perform exceptionally well in their upcoming matches, including two more Tests against New Zealand.

The race for the final spots in the WTC is heating up with multiple teams vying for position.

Australia sits closely behind India with 90 points and a percentage of 62.50%, while Sri Lanka’s recent performance has them third with 60 points and a percentage of 55.56%.
