David Warner became the second player to accomplish the milestone in his 100th Test match when he made a double century on Day 2 of the second Test between Australia and South Africa.
The opener, David Warner became the eleventh player to reach 100 runs in a Test, joining Ricky Ponting as the second Australian to do so. He joined Joe Root as the only player in the historic game to score a double century after just 254 deliveries.
This was Warner’s third 200-plus score in a foreign test. On his approach to the double hundred in the boxing day Test, Warner overcame cramping.
After hitting the milestone, the left-handed batter retired hurt from the game in pain because his hamstring issue remained. Australia easily defeated South Africa’s first-inning score of 189 thanks to Warner’s performance, and on Day 2 the lead was increased by more than 197 runs.
