Sri Lanka suffered an embarrassing 302-run loss at the hands of India in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Post this shambolic loss, Sri Lanka’s sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe sacked the entire cricket board of the island nation.
As per reports, Ranasinghe has appointed a new 7-member committee on an interim basis. Former captain of Sri Lanka, Arjuna Ranatunga, has been appointed the interim chairman of the board.
“Sports minister Roshan Ranasinghe has formed an interim committee for Sri Lanka Cricket,” read a statement from the office of the Sports Minister of Sri Lanka.
Notably, the sports ministry had to take such a stringent decision after the cricket board’s second-highest officer, Mohan de Silva, who worked as the secretary, resigned from the board.
Sri Lanka are presently in the 7th position in the points table of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 and have 2 wins and 5 losses under their belt.
