    The Women’s Premier League (WPL) will play its debut season beginning on March 4 in Mumbai, with the final match scheduled for March 26. The BCCI is all set to conduct the inaugural WPL 2023 auction on February 13.

    All of the games will take place at the Brabourne Stadium and the DY Patil Stadium, with the tournament’s first game between Gujarat Giants and a franchise owned by the Mumbai Indians anticipated. The five franchises are Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Giants, Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and UP Warriorz.

    The first season will consist of 22 games, with the top-ranked team in the league stage automatically advancing to the championship game. The teams who finished second and third will compete for a spot in the championship game.

    The auction purse for each franchise in the WPL’s inaugural season is Rs 12 crore. Players with cap restrictions had the choice of a base fee in one of three ranges: Rs 30 lakh, Rs 40 lakh, or Rs 50 lakh. Base prices for uncapped players are Rs. 10 lakh and Rs. 20 lakh.

    For the inaugural WPL 2023 auction, a total of 1525 players registered. Of the final 409 players, 246 are Indians, 163 are from other countries, and 8 are from partner countries. There are 202 capped players and 199 uncapped players.

    WPL 2023 auction: Purse and slots details 

    At the WPL 2023 player auction, each side will have a budget of Rs 12 crore and must purchase a minimum of 15 players and a maximum of 18. The starting eleven may contain up to five foreign players, including one from an associate member nation.

    At the highest base price of Rs 50 lakh, 24 players have listed themselves. Among the few Indians who have chosen to be in the highest reserve price group are Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma, and Shafali Verma.
