    Umesh Yadav

One of India’s most premium pacers at the moment, Umesh Yadav bowls with extreme pace and bowls the tight line and lengths as well. He has been playing international cricket for quite some time and has a lot of skills while bowling.

Having played 56 Test matches, 75 ODIs and 9 T20Is, Umesh Yadav has a lot of experience while playing at the international front. He is a out-and-out pacer and will be crucial to India in the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) finals.

The 35-year-old pacer will join forces with the likes of Mohammad Shami, Mohammad Siraj and Jaydev Unadkat. However, only one out of Umesh or Jaydev will play the WTC finals because of team combinations and it seems like Umesh Yadav will be the one.

In this article, we take a look at 3 reasons why Umesh Yadav can have a good game in the WTC finals:

    1. Umesh Yadav can swing the ball really well

Umesh Yadav has the ability to extract a lot of swing from the surface and the conditions in England favour a lot of swing and seam. He has played in England before and he will be a good option in the bowling ranks of the Indian cricket team.

With raw pace as well, Umesh Yadav can be a great exponent of bowling in the bowling department of India.

    2. He has been bowling well in the nets

In a recent conversation between Harsha Bhogle and Dinesh Karthik in CricBuzz Chatter, the former said that Umesh Yadav has been bowling really well in the nets. As the duo are closely watching the practice sessions at The Oval, it can be decoded that Umesh Yadav is in good touch.

The 35-year-old is brimming with momentum and that will help the Indian cricket team in terms of confidence in the high-voltage WTC finals.

    3. Umesh Yadav is fresh in terms of preparation

After he suffered a slight niggle on his hamstring while playing for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Umesh Yadav didn’t force himself to play more.

He took rest and subsequently prepared himself for the WTC finals versus Australia from 7th June 2023. As he is fresh in terms of preparation, Umesh Yadav can be the X-factor for India in the swing and seam friendly conditions of England.

It will be interesting to see if he is given the new ball in the WTC finals by skipper Rohit Sharma.
