New Zealand continued their juggernaut in the ongoing Zimbabwe Tri Series 2025 as they outclassed the hosts by 8 wickets at Harare Sports Club on 18th July 2025 in the 3rd T20I. It was a clinical performance by the visitors as they register their 2nd victory in the ongoing series.
Zimbabwe had to do something special in this game and they failed to weave the magic that was needed to topple the heavyweights, New Zealand. Mitchell Santner and co. ticked all the boxes in ensuring a fantastic victory against Zimbabwe in the 3rd T20I.
Having won the toss, Santner sent Zimbabwe to bat first and it turned out to be the right decision. Zimbabwe were shot out for a paltry score of 120 runs and it was a cakewalk for the Kiwis.
The openers of Zimbabwe batted with intent in the Powerplay and were smashing a few boundaries. But Brian Bennett, the second-highest run-scorer of Zimbabwe in this series, fell out to Matt Henry in the final over of the Powerplay.
And from there on, it was one-sided traffic at the Harare Sports Club in Harare. New Zealand bowlers took advantage of the field restrictions after the Powerplay and applied the squeeze on Zimbabwe.
Zimbabwe’s top-scorer was their opener, Wesley Madhevere, who scored 36 runs in 32 balls. His knock was packed with 4 fours.
New Zealand had a smooth run-chase
New Zealand chased down Zimbabwe’s total with consummate ease on 18th July 2025. Despite Tim Seifert falling early, Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra took control of the proceedings. They guided New Zealand to safe shores.
Conway scored an unbeaten knock of 59* runs in 40 balls. Ravindra was eventually dismissed by Tinotendra Maposa in the 9th over.
Daryll Mitchell came in next. Mitchell and Ravindra scored 26* and 30 runs respectively and helped New Zealand win their 2nd win on the bounce in the tri-series.
