Tekken 7 Sold Over 10 Million Copies, Huge Breakthrough

Date:

Tekken 7 has hit a major milestone by selling over 10 million copies worldwide. The game was first released in March 2015. The franchise’s most popular game till today is Tekken 7, with over 10 million copies sold. Tekken 3, which sold 8.5 million copies, and Tekken 5, which sold 8.2 million copies, are two of the franchise’s next most popular titles. When the game initially became accessible outside of arcades, it sold 3 million copies. By the end of 2019, it had sold 5 million copies.

Tekken 7 Game Director thanks fans

Katsuhiro Harada, the director of the game, thanked the gaming community on Twitter for its “continued support” of the series. Additionally, he disclosed that over 54 million copies of the Tekken series had been sold globally.

The future of Tekken games

In contrast to other fighting game franchises, Tekken has had a mediocre amount of success over the years. Super Smash Bros., the all-time best-selling fighting game, has sold over 28 million copies globally.

Since Namco’s 1994 debut of the initial Tekken game, there have been several variations, including crossovers with Street Fighter in 2012’s Street Fighter X Tekken and the Pokemon series in 2015’s Pokkén Tournament. With Tekken Card Tournament in 2013 and Tekken Mobile in 2018, Tekken also entered the mobile gaming market.

Before formally unveiling Tekken 8 in September during Sony’s State of Play conference, Bandai Namco initially unveiled a teaser for the game during EVO 2022. The title will mark the debut of a fighting game created with Unreal Engine 5. Another clip for Tekken 8 that was recently displayed during The Game Awards was a tease from the developer. The game will be released on Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and Microsoft Windows. The game will most likely be released in 2023.
