Ever since Cristiano Ronaldo penned down a deal with Al-Nassr in December 2022, the Saudi Pro League club has been making quite the waves. The club has been in the limelight as it has, arguably the greatest footballer ever to have graced this sport.

The lucrative deal signed by Ronaldo is worth $200 million per year and sent shockwaves to the entire footballing ecosystem, when it was signed. Al-Nassr have since then, bought many foreign superstars to their club.

The club has now secured the services of former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte. As per media news outlets in England, Al-Nassr paid a transfer fee of $29.77 million for the defender.

Aymeric Laporte is a great addition to the defensive department of Al-Nassr and would be hoping to guide them to victories and titles with his experience and sheer tactical awareness.

After departing from the club, Laporte penned down an emotional note for the fans of Manchester City.

“I am proud to have represented Manchester City over the last six seasons. When I first joined, I was excited about the prospect of winning trophies. However, I could not have imagined the success we would go on to achieve together,” Laporte told City’s official website.

“I would like to thank the coaches, my team-mates and of course the brilliant City fans for all of their support throughout my time in Manchester.  I will always be a City fan and I look forward to seeing you all again,” he added.

Al-Nassr has made it upon themselves to sign some exciting foreign names. After Ronaldo, they have secured the services of Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic, Alex Telles, Seko Fofana, Otavio and now Aymeric Laporte.

Laporte had joined Manchester City in 2017-18

Having joined during the transfer window of the 2017-18 season, Laporte carved a niche for himself in Manchester City. He represented The Cityzens in 121 games and netted 8 goals for them.

Previously, he had plied his trade for Athletic Bilbao and had played in 161 matches. Aymeric Laporte has also played 22 international matches for Spain and has scored 1 goal.
