Barcelona suffered a 0-3 loss at the hands of AS Monaco at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium on 12th August 2024 in their final pre-season game. The annual Joan Gamper Trophy saw Hansi Flick and co. suffer a defeat and it would shake their confidence to some extent.
There were a few opportunities for Barcelona to open the goal-scoring account in the first half itself. In the very first minute, Raphinha’s cross to Pau Victor was an inch-perfect one but Victor couldn’t give the finishing touch.
Barcelona were quite effective in the midfield as well and some of their forwards got into good positions in the final third but just couldn’t control the final touch which would yield a goal.
Lamine Camara, Breel Embolo and Christian Mawissa found the back of the net for AS Monaco and all the goals were scored in the second half. The first half of this Barcelona vs Monaco match saw a 0-0 stalemate with both teams vying to get a win under their belt.
Substitute Christian Mawissa’s beautiful curler was one of the highlights of this game for AS Monaco and he would definitely be happy with his performance in this game.
