Manchester City FA Cup win

Defending champions of the FA Cup, Manchester City steamrolled past Huddersfield in the third round of this ongoing competition. The defending Treble winners have made it a point-that they are here to defend their title.

Huddersfield were a no match in front of Manchester City as they were blanked, 0-5. While Phil Foden netted a brace, Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku scored the other goals for the Cityzens.

The other goal came via an own goal from Ben Jackson in the 58th minute of the game. Manchester City would be pretty confident of their performances and would be hoping to replicate the same in the remainder of the tournament.

Manchester City midfielder and captain, Kevin De Bruyne, staged a comeback after 5 months of injury and had an assist up to his name. His comeback would make Pep Guardiola heave a sigh of relief.

City manager Pep Guardiola garnered praise for the midfielder and said he has a “special ability to do something hard”.

“We are incredibly delighted he is back. Kevin wins games and few can do that. He has a special ability to do something that is hard to find. I don’t want to put pressure on Kevin, he knows that and we have known each other a long time – he has that sort of special quality,” said Pep Guardiola to SkySports, after the game.

“Kevin will help us with his talent but I don’t want to put all the pressure on his shoulders because it is not fair to him,” he added.

Manchester City are presently in the 3rd position in Premier League

The Cityzens have been an embodiment of consistency in Premier League and have won 5 titles in the last 6 years. This simply speaks volumes about their incredible consistency and the skills, their players and their manager possess.

In the ongoing Premier League 2023-24, Manchester City are in the 3rd position. They have won 12 games in 19 matches and have tasted only 3 defeats. Only Liverpool and Aston Villa are above them and City are 2 points short of Villa, whilst having played 1 game less.

They are on a good move and are unbeaten from the past 4 games. Pep Guardiola and co. will be facing Newcastle United on 13th January 2024 at the St. James Park and would fancy their chances of crossing Aston Villa in the Premier League 2023-24 points table.
