It is just one step away from Lionel Messi having a perfect career. The trophy which has been eluding the talismanic striker of Argentina for so many years can finally be his. Argentina defeated Croatia 3-0 in the semi-finals to knock out the runners-up of the last season of the FIFA World Cup.
Argentina flexed their dominant muscles as they cruised to a 3-0 victory against Croatia. Julian Alvarez netted a brace and Lionel Messi scored 1 goal as La Albiceleste won the game in a dominant fashion.
Even though Luka Modric’s Croatia put on a good and fighting show, they could not match up to the prowess of Argentina. Lionel Messi had suffered a hamstring in the pull but he played extremely well to guide his team to a superb victory.
At the age of 35, Messi became the oldest person to score 5 goals in a single FIFA World Cup. Argentina will now face either France or Morocco at the all-important final on the 18th of December, 2022 in the FIFA World Cup 2022.
This is Argentina’s 6th World Cup final and it came in quite a superb fashion. Lionel Messi’s side played quite aggressively and even their custodian Emiliano Martinez was on song. He saved 7 shots which were on target by the Croatian team. Lionel Messi now has one last chance to cement himself as the greatest footballer to have ever graced the sport. His counterpart Cristiano Ronaldo was knocked out of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar as the team lost to underdogs Morocco in the quarter-finals. The score-line read 1-0.
France will be crossing swords with the North African nation Morocco in the semi-final today. The match is slated to begin at 12:30 AM (IST).
