ISL 2023-24: Pritam Kotal Shares Thoughts After 1-0 Win Vs Mohun Bagan In Kolkata

Date:

Kerala Blasters FC registered a clinical 1-0 victory against Mohun Bagan Super Giants on 27th December 2023 at the iconic Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata. Dimitrios Diamantakos had netted the goal for the Blasters in the 9th minute of the game, to hand Mohun Bagan their 3rd defeat on the bounce.

Former Mohun Bagan captain, Pritam Kotal, returned to his home city and played against his previous club. Kotal admitted to have been overwhelmed with the support, the Kolkata-based club’s fans, showered on him on 27th December 2023.

“It’s good to secure all three points. It’s my responsibility for my new team, Kerala Blasters FC, to win games,” Kotal told the official website of the ISL.

“It’s a pleasure to see many of Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s fans still remember me and support me a lot during the game by chanting my name. “I don’t believe that the word ‘luck’ exists without hard work and commitment. We all do lots of hard work as a team and as individuals, both on and off the field. That’s the reason we are here,” he added.

Pritam Kotal believes that his former club has several formidable players and has depth in their squad. He further stated that Mohun Bagan Super Giants can stage a comeback in the latter half of this season.

“Mohun Bagan Super Giant has a quality squad with Liston Colaco, Sahal Abdul Samad, Anwar Ali, Manvir Singh, Kiyan Nassiri, and also with Subhasish Bose, who is leading from the back. Every team goes through a bad phase, but they will surely bounce back in the second leg of the season. They need to believe in themselves to get back to where they were,” he said.

Mohun Bagan have been struggling in ISL 2023-24

The defending champions of the top-tier football league of India, Mohun Bagan Super Giants have lost 3 matches on the trot in the ongoing ISL 2023-24. Subhasish Bose and co. are presently in the 5th position in the points table with 6 wins in 10 games along with 1 draw.

Fans are unhappy with their performances and there has been a constant pressure cloud on manager, Juan Ferrando. Mohun Bagan Super Giants need to script a fabulous comeback in the beginning of 2024 in order to facilitate their way to the playoffs of the 10th season of the Indian Super League (ISL).

Notably, the Super Cup 2024 is all set to begin from January 2024 and Mohun Bagan Super Giant are placed in Group A alongside Sreenidi Deccan, East Bengal FC and Hyderabad FC.
