Match Fixing In Indian Football? Watch Video Of Bizarre Own Goals In Delhi Premier League

Indian football was rocked with a viral video on X (formerly known as Twitter) that showed how some players in the ongoing Delhi Premier League scored own-goals when the match was well and truly within their own kitty.

In this Delhi Premier League game between Ahbab FC and Rangers SC on 19th February 2024, the entire world witnessed unprecedented drama. Even the commentator in this match was truly shocked with the way things were panning out in this match.

Moments after this video was doing the rounds on the internet, allegations of match fixing were levied on Ahbab FC as their defenders were right in the line of fire. During the fag end of this match, post the 85th minute, the couple of own goals were scored by the defenders of Ahbab FC.

We could see in this viral video that the players of both the teams were disinterested to play the game and they were simply wasting time in this Delhi Premier League game.

The chief of the apex body of Indian football, the All India Football Federation (AIFF), Kalyan Chaubey, too intervened in this matter and broke the silence.

“We’ve been made aware of videos circulating on SM,raising serious suspicion on the Delhi Premier League. Prima facie, it’s very concerning. Past few months we’re collecting hard evidence on suspicious matches with continuous investigation to eliminate such instances fm #IndianFootball,” said Kalyan Chaubey on X.

Notably, Ahbab FC were winning the game 4-0 and then these two goals were scored from their own players, resulting in the scoreline of the game being 4-2 at the end of the final whistle from the on-field referee.

“Our investigation will not be limited to Delhi. We have reasons to believe through evidences, such practice in other cities too, and will form a wider network for our investigations,” said Kalyan Chaubey in a statement released by AIFF.

The emergency executive of Football Delhi had decided to suspend Ahbab FC till further notice. A show cause notice has also been issued to the Delhi Premier League Sub Committee Chairman, Rizwan Ul Haq.

This incident has posed as pertinent headaches to the Indian football office bearers and has raised serious concerns about the ethical standards in this football league in Delhi.
