Mohammad Salah displayed his extraordinary footballing prowess in Liverpool’s dominant 4-2 win versus Newcastle United in the ongoing Premier League 2023-24. Salah played well in his last game in a comparatively long time as he goes for the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 in Ivory Coast.

Liverpool are now in the 1st position in the Premier League 2023-24 points table and are 3 points clear at the top. Aston Villa are in the 2nd position with 42 points while The Reds are at 45 points.

Salah scored the opening goal of the match in the 49th minute of the game but Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak had scored a goal in the 54th minute to equalise things in the game.

But Liverpool kept their calm and once again took the lead in the 74th minute of the game through Curtis Jones. Cody Gakpo scored the 3rd goal, to consolidate Liverpool’s position in this match.

But Newcastle United displayed great amounts of resilience and pulled a goal back when Sven Botman scored a goal, two minutes after Gakpo had scored a goal.

Mohammad Salah then converted a penalty into a goal and scored his 151st goal for Liverpool. He became the 5th player in Liverpool’s history to reach the 150-goal milestone.

Newcastle United have been going through a torrid time

Things are looking extremely bleak for The Magpies. They have lost 7 out of their last 8 matches across all competitions and have been at the receiving end of several hate and criticisms.

Manager Eddie Howe reflected on the loss against Liverpool and highlighted on the fact that “feeling sorry for yourself” isn’t the right approach.

“We are disappointed with how we defended the last two goals but I didn’t think their second one was a penalty and Longstaff had one seconds before. “You have to have the mindset that you create the luck for yourself. Feeling sorry for yourself never has a positive outcome,” Eddie Howe told SkySports after this Premier League 2023-24 game.

Mohammad Salah will now miss a few games for Liverpool

As international duty beckons for Mohammad Salah, Liverpool will be dearly missing the services of their star striker. Salah has been an absolute asset for them over the years and is presently the joint-highest goal-scorer in the ongoing Premier League, with 14 goals under his belt.

Salah will be seen in action at the Africa Cup of Nations 2023, as he plays for Egypt.
