Sevilla once again conjured magic at the UEFA Europa League and won their 7th title after beating Roma on penalties in the all-important finals. The match was taking place at the Puskas Arena in Budapest and the fans were treated to some heart-throbbing footballing action.

The match ended at 1-1 after regulation and extra time and the penalty round had to come in. Paulo Dybala had netted the goal for Roma and Gianluca Mancini had scored an own goal in the 55th minute, and it meant that Sevilla somehow found a passage to crawl back into the game.

Gonzalo Montiel had kicked the last penalty goal and powered Sevilla to their 7th UEFA Europa League title. Incidentally, Montiel had also made Argentina win with the FIFA World Cup 2022 with his last penalty kick.

The record 7-time winners of the UEFA Europa League, Sevilla are powerhouses when it comes to this European competition. They handed Jose Mourinho, who is the manager of Roma, his first defeat in 6 European finals.

Sevilla had beaten Juventus in the semi-finals

In the lead up to the finals, Sevilla had outclassed Juventus and had booked a place in the finals of the high-voltage UEFA Europa League 2022-23. In the first leg of the semi-final, it was a 1-1 draw versus Juventus.

In the second leg of the semi-final, a 10-man Sevilla bear Juventus 2-1 to sail through to the finals. Youssef En-Nesyri had netted the goal for Sevilla in the first leg.

On the other hand, Suso and Erik Lamela had scored the goals for Sevilla in the high-voltage 2nd leg of the semis of the UEFA Europa League 2022-23.

Another notable victory for Sevilla was their quarter-final victory over Premier League giants, Manchester United. They registered a 5-2 win on aggregate over the Red Devils and Youssef En-Nesyri was the key player for them.

Moroccan forward Youssef was one of the standout players for Sevilla and scored 2 goals in the quarter finals and also scored one goal versus Juventus in the semi-finals. Jose Luis Mendilibar will be very happy with his team’s performance in the high-profile UEFA Europa League 2022-23.
