UEFA Champions League 2023-24: Real Madrid Crowned Champions

Real Madrid win their 15th UEFA Champions League 2023-24 title as they beat Borussia Dortmund 2-0 in the epic finals at the Wembley Stadium in London. Los Blancos netted the goals in the late part of the match and outclassed Borussia Dortmund.

Borussia Dortmund did get a few chances and opportunities to make inroads but they failed to capitalise on it. Toni Kroos, who was playing his final game for Real Madrid, will be a happy man.

He assisted the first goal as he helped Dani Carvajal score through a set-piece. The corner was beautifully created and Kroos’s kick-in and Carvajal’s header made sure that Carlo Ancelloti’s men score their first goal of the night in London in the 74th minute of the game.

Vinicius Junior scored the second goal in the 83rd minute and it was indeed, the final nail in the coffin for Borussia Dortmund.

Niclas Fullkrag’s finish in the first half was deemed illegal as it was an offside and Borussia Dortmund rued their missed chances in this summit clash. The Spanish champions remained unbeaten right throughout the UEFA Champions League 2023-24 and it was a special moment for them.

Even though they had to wade through troubled waters on route to their victory, they made sure they ticked all the boxes. They defeated Bayern Munich in the semi-finals and former champions Manchester City in the quarter-finals.

Carlo Ancelotti has now won the championship 5 times and is the most successful coach in the UEFA Champions League 2023-24. Toni Kroos, Dani Carvajal, Nacho and Luka Modric have won the UEFA Champions League 2023-24, 6 times.

A major chunk of this win must also go to the shot-stopper of Real Madrid, Thibaut Courtois. He saved a few chances in the first half and played extremely well under pressure. Perhaps, a trademark of these great players are them playing well in big matches and in finals.

Real Madrid have now won 15 UEFA Champions League titles and are the most successful side in this competition. They have time and again stamped their authority and are a class team.

AC Milan are second in the list of most number of UEFA Champions League titles, with 7 titles under their belt.
