GT vs CSK 2023

The wait for the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is finally over as the action kick-starts from 31st March 2023. This time around, the traditional home and away format of the IPL is back and teams would be hoping to maximize their home ground advantage.

Gujarat Titans (GT) will be squaring off with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the first game. Hardik Pandya and MS Dhoni will be up in action against each other.

Last year, Gujarat finished as the winners of the IPL. They stamped their authority in the very first edition and on the other hand, Chennai finished in the 2nd last position and had won 4 wins in 14 games.

Gujarat Titans

Gujarat Titans have one of the most balanced teams in IPL 2023. One of the notable additions in their side is Kiwi all-time great and former Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) skipper Kane Williamson.

The solid right-handed batter is all set to come in at number 3 and anchor the innings. On the other hand, the bowlers in the form of Rashid Khan, Mohammad Shami and Yash Dayal are key players to watch out for.

Gujarat have also signed Joshua Little and the speedster will be the first Irish cricketer to play in the IPL. The Gujarat Titans team management will have a toss up between Joshua Little and Alzarri Joseph for the starting XI.

Chennai Super Kings

The last time when the two teams locked horns with each other in IPL 2022, Gujarat emerged out victorious in both the matches. On 17th April 2022 when Gujarat won the game by a narrow margin of 3 wickets, Ruturaj Gaikwad was the sole performer for the Yellow Army.

The dynamic opener scored 73 runs in just 48 balls and set a mark immediately. Dwayne Bravo on the other hand, bagged 3 wickets. While Bravo has retired from IPL, Ruturaj Gaikwad will be opening the batting for CSK.

Gaikwad scored another top-notch half-century in the reverse fixture between these two sides and he will be a key player to watch out for.

Head-to-Head IPL 2023 Record of RCB vs CSK

In the 2 matches that have been played between these two sides, Gujarat Titans have a 100%-win record in it. However, knowing CSK’s never-say-die attitude and their strong resilience, the MS Dhoni led CSK are expected to stage a strong comeback in this encounter.
