Who Is Udita Duhan? Hockey Player Who Got Highest Bid At HIL Auction

The Hockey India League (HIL) 2024-25 is all set to revolutionize hockey in India and attract a lot of audience masses towards this historic sport in India. The HIL auction of the women’s tournament took place in New Delhi on 15th October 2024 and Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers secured the services of defender Udita Duhan for a whopping amount of Rs. 32 lakhs.

She became the highest-sold player in the entire auction and her defensive prowess is all set to bolster the Bengal-based side. The women’s edition of the Hockey India League (HIL) is all set to take place in Ranchi later this year and promises to be an absolute crackerjack of a contest.

Udita Duhan, hails from Hisar in Haryana, and is a veteran of the Indian women’s hockey team. At the age of 26, she already has played 116 matches for India and has netted 11 goals, thereby highlighting her prowess in this sport.

Duhan has also played in the U-21 category for India and has played 4 matches before representing the senior women’s side.

She has bagged the gold medal in the 2022 Nations Cup Spain and has also won a silver and a bronze medal in the Asian Games in 2018 and 2022 respectively. Duhan also has a gold medal in the Women’s Asian Champions Trophy 2023, held in Ranchi.

During her time in the junior national camp in 2016, she was not told of her father’s demise. But when she went back to Hisar, she got to known that her father had passed away. This was a huge blow in her personal life but her grit and determination helped her to overcome this hard time.

Yibbi Jansen gets bought by Odisha Warriors

Dutch hockey player Yibbi Jansen was snapped by Odisha Warriors for Rs. 29 lakh and she became the second-costliest player in the HIL Auction.

Indian players Lalremsiami and Sunelita Toppo were bought by Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers and Delhi SG Pipers for Rs. 25 lakh and Rs. 24 lakh respectively.
