GT vs DC 2023

Delhi Capitals (DC) registered their 3rd victory in their last 4 games and they have taken down the mighty defending champions, Gujarat Titans (GT). The bottom-placed team who seem to be destined to finish with the wooden spoon in this season, have defended just 131 runs and have sent out a statement to the other teams too; that DC aren’t a team that can be simply rolled over.

Batting first after winning the toss, DC struggled to score runs at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The away side was tottering at 23-5 and were staring at an embarrassing total. But a few partnerships between Axar Patel-Aman Khan and then Aman Khan-Ripal Patel, guided DC to a respectable total.

The DC bowlers then did the trick with the white-cherry and inflicted a 5-run defeat on the table-toppers, Gujarat Titans.

In this article, we take a look at the top 3 talking points of the GT vs DC game that took place in Ahmedabad in IPL 2023:

1. Hardik Pandya’s knock went in vain

Coming in at number 3, Hardik Pandya played a slow and calculated knock but, in the end, he couldn’t take the side over the line. He admitted that he failed to “find rhythm” and pinned the blame on him.

The skipper of Gujarat mustered 59* runs in 53 balls but at the end, the team fell short and his knock went in absolute vain.

2. DC have another batting collapse

The Delhi franchise cannot only depend on their bowling attack. Every single time the Delhi batters create a mess, it’s the bowlers who clean up their mess. Delhi were reeling at 23-5 as half their side was back to the hut.

David Warner’s DC side need to go back to the drawing board and fix their batting collapse problem which could later be detrimental to their playoff chances. Notably, they need to win every single game from here on in order to qualify for the playoffs of IPL 2023.

3. Mohammad Shami impressed with the ball

One of India’s finest bowlers, Mohammad Shami had a dream outing with the ball. He dismissed Phil Salt, Priyam Garg, Rilee Rossouw and Manish Pandey and took 4 wickets. Shami conceded only 11 runs in his 24 balls and was a sensation with the ball.

Even though Gujarat couldn’t win the game, Mohammad Shami bagged the player of the match award. He also is presently the Purple Cap holder of IPL with 17 wickets and with an average of 14.53.
