Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bounced back into winning ways with a 24-run victory. Virat Kohli who was the stand-in-skipper, was exceptionally good with his tactics and marshalled his troops to a victory.
With this victory, the Bangalore boys are now in the 5th position in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 points table, with 3 wins and 3 losses under their belt.
Skipper Faf Du Plessis was unfit to field and therefore he was roped in as an impact player. He had opened the innings alongside Kohli and literally left an impact in the game.

1. Virat Kohli the captain was back
It was pure nostalgia for a myriad of cricket fans as one of the best cricketing captains of all time was back to leading RCB. Kohli firstly played a mature knock of 59 runs in 47 balls and then spearheaded the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side to a victory.
His decision of bringing in Wanindu Hasaranga in the 3rd over did raise a few eyebrows but the skipper had a plan. Kohli wanted to register the dismissal of the buccaneering batter Matthew Short and the plan was successful as Short was dismissed off the first ball.
2. Mohammad Siraj’s career best spell
The upward curve in Mohammad Siraj’s career has been nothing short of remarkable. The Hyderabad-based bowler bagged 4 wickets in this game and was simply stupendous, to say the least.
Siraj conceded just 21 runs in 4 overs and had an excellent economy rate of 5.25. He also bagged the player of the match award for his bowling and is leading the pace bowling pack of RCB really well.
3. Jitesh Sharma went all guns blazing in the end
Despite Jitesh Sharma trying his level best to take Punjab Kings over the line, the home side couldn’t end the day on a high. Sharma scored 41 runs in just 27 balls and smashed 3 sixes and 2 fours.
His batting masterclass is a positive sign for Punjab as they would be wanting him to score well in the future too, in the remaining games for Punjab.
