He was, however, forced to miss the entire season due to a hamstring injury after also being unable to play in the three-match ODI series in Australia.
Riley Meredith, an Australian fast bowler who will take his position, has appeared in 5 T20 Internationals and taken 8 wickets, including a three-wicket haul. In prior IPL seasons, he played for both the Mumbai Indians and the Punjab Kings.
With 21 wickets for Hobart Hurricanes in 14 games of the Big Bash League, Riley Meredith is in incredible form. Riley will join the team in advance of their upcoming encounter against the Chennai Super Kings on Saturday.
“Mumbai Indians (MI) on Wednesday named Riley Meredith as a replacement for injured fast bowler Jhye Richardson. Richardson is suffering from a hamstring injury and is ruled out of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL),” said a statement from IPL.
