MI vs RCB match report

The Mumbai Indians made a stunning comeback as Suryakumar Yadav played a knock for the ages, smashing a match-winning 83 off just 35 balls to help his side chase down a daunting target of 200 runs in their match against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell had earlier hit impressive fifties to propel RCB to a challenging 199/6, but it was Suryakumar’s innings that proved to be the difference in the end.

At the start of the match, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to field first. The match started with a bang as Faf du Plessis was dropped by Nehal Wadhera off Jason Behrendorff’s delivery. But Behrendorff got his revenge by dismissing Virat Kohli on the very next ball.

Du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell then took control and attacked the Mumbai Indians’ bowlers. Maxwell hit two fours off Behrendorff, followed by two fours and a six off the next over, making it a 16-run over.

Maxwell continued his assault, hitting two sixes off Chris Jordan to bring up a 50-run partnership in just 26 balls. The pair continued to score boundaries, but Behrendorff broke their partnership by dismissing Maxwell for 68 runs off 33 balls.

Kumar Kartikeya then took two wickets, and Cameron Green dismissed du Plessis for 65 runs off 41 balls. However, Akash Madhwal’s fantastic last over conceded only six runs, and RCB finished their innings at 199/6.

In reply, the Mumbai Indians were off to a solid start as their openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan attacked the RCB bowlers from the outset, hitting three fours off Josh Hazlewood in the second over.

Kishan then took on Mohammed Siraj, smashing two consecutive sixes before hitting a four and six off Wanindu Hasaranga. However, the Sri Lankan spinner fought back hard, first dismissing Kishan and then trapping Rohit Sharma LBW via a successful review.

Suryakumar Yadav then took charge of the MI innings, mixing caution with aggression to take the score to 99/2 at the halfway mark along with Nehal Wadhera.

The duo then shifted gears and hit a six each off Hasaranga before taking 10 runs off Hazlewood and smashing 17 off Harshal Patel to bring the equation down to 59 needed off 42 balls.

Suryakumar brought up his fifty off just 25 balls and then went berserk, smashing two sixes off Hasaranga and two sixes and a four off Vijaykumar Vyshak.

Although RCB’s Patel bounced back to have Suryakumar caught at deep square leg and then sent back David off the next ball, the 19-run over had done enough damage to bring MI within striking distance of victory.

With just 7 needed off 24 balls, Wadhera finished off the match in style, cracking a six-over cover off Green to help MI win by six wickets with 21 balls to spare. Wadhera then put an impressive cap on the game by smashing a six-over cover off Green as MI won by six wickets with 21 balls remaining.
