After Josh Hazlewood was injured and was unavailable for the initial part of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Reece Topley became one of the most important members in the bowling department of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).
In RCB’s match versus Mumbai Indians (MI) yesterday, Topley bowled well in his first 2 overs. He conceded just 14 runs and also bagged a wicket.
Mumbai Indians’ star all-rounder Cameron Green was bowled out by Reece Topley. It was an absolute peach of a delivery to Topley and he couldn’t play that unplayable tramline yorker.
While fielding for RCB in the 8th over of the 1st innings, Topley hurt his shoulder and had to be taken off the field. He seemed to be in a lot of pain and couldn’t play in the remainder of the game against Mumbai.
But the Royal Challengers Bangalore fans can heave a sigh of relief as wicket-keeper batter Dinesh Karthik shared a positive news about Reece Topley’s injury. He said that his shoulder did “pop out” but he was fine now.
“It (shoulder) did pop out, but it went back in. I think he went for a scan during the game itself. He’s not in as much pain as we thought he’d be in. We’ll have to wait and see,” said Dinesh Karthik to JioCinema.

RCB began their IPL 2023 campaign in supreme style as Virat Kohli played an extraordinary innings at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. This was also RCB’s 5th win against MI in the last 6 encounters between the two sides.
Skipper and player of the match Faf Du Plessis and former skipper of RCB Virat Kohli stitched a superb partnership of 148 runs and took the game away from Mumbai Indians.
Virat Kohli played brilliantly and scored 82* runs in just 49 deliveries. His innings was packed with 6 fours and 6 sixes.
In the 1st innings, 20-year-old Tilak Verma scored 84* runs but his out-of-the-world knock went in vain. Notably, Mumbai were reeling at 48-4 at one stage and were staring at an embarrassing total.
