Mumbai Indians IPL

Mumbai Indians (MI) finally opened their winning account in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 after their 29-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) on 7th April 2024. Hardik Pandya would heave a sigh of relief as Mumbai finally got their first points in the fiercely-competitive IPL 2024 tournament.

Notably, the 5-time champions had lost 3 matches on the bounce in the first 3 matches and were in a spot of bother. There were rumours of a rift in the dressing room of Mumbai Indians as the reports stated that Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya were at loggerheads.

Now the million-dollar question is whether Mumbai Indians can stage a comeback in this competition. It is worth noting that in IPL 2014, Mumbai had lost their first 5 matches but eventually qualified for the playoffs.

Hardik Pandya and co. have a big mountain to climb but their win against Delhi Capitals would help them gain back the much-needed confidence to excel in this league.

Batting Department getting back into form

With the arrival of Surya Kumar Yadav into the side and most of their players in stupendous form, Mumbai Indians would believe that they can stage a comeback. Romario Shepherd had activated his beast mode in Match 20 and had scored 39* runs in 10 balls.

He also scored 32 runs in 1 over in the final over off Anrich Nortje and scored the highest single-over score in IPL 2024.

Both the openers in the form of Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan are in good form and providing good starts to the team in the Powerplay.

Bowling Department oozing with class

Mumbai’s bowling department in IPL 2024 has been brimming with class and confidence. The likes of Gerald Coetzee and Jasprit Bumrah have been breathing with fire and have been sending shockwaves down the spines off the opposition batters.

If they can continue to fire on all cylinders, Mumbai could well and truly roll over several opposition teams.

Hardik Pandya hasn’t bowled for Mumbai Indians in the last 2 games and it remains to be seen whether he will be taking up the onus of doing the trick with the white-cherry.

If Mumbai can clear the rifts (if present) in the team, then there is not stopping this talented bunch of cricketers.
