RCB vs SRH

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), who have already crashed out of IPL 2025 Playoffs Race, acted as a party-spoiler for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on 23rd May 2025 at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Batting first, SRH posted a humongous total of 231 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. On the back of Ishan Kishan’s stellar knock of 94* runs in just 48 deliveries, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to post a total that was way above the par-score at this ground.

Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head had gotten off to a flier in the Powerplay and had accumulated 54 runs in just 3.5 overs – before Abhishek was dismissed by Lungi Ngidi. Travis Head got the marching orders soon in the next over.

Despite losing wickets from one end, southpaw Ishan Kishan held fort from the other end and powered SRH to a humongous total. There were able contributions from Heinrich Klaasen and Aniket Verma as well.

With the white-cherry, Romario Shepherd was the pick of the bowlers for RCB. He bagged 2 wickets and his scalps were Nitish Kumar Reddy and Abhinav Manohar.

Virat Kohli and Phil Salt’s exploits went in vain

RCB had gotten off to a commanding start in the 2nd innings. There were a flurry of fours and sixes and this helped RCB get into a dominant position, early on in the innings. Salt scored 62 runs and Kohli scored 43 runs in this innings.

But they didn’t receive support from the other RCB batters and chasing 230+ runs was always going to be tough in the 2nd innings.

Eventually, SRH won the game by 42 runs and it was a consolatory win for the wounded Hyderabad side. They are presently with 11 points in 13 games.

Sunrisers Hyderabad next lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on 25th May 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
