Kings XI Punjab is at the last position in the IPL 2020 league table. They have performed well in some of the games. But, they failed to cross the winning line on most of the occasions. Meanwhile, KXIP team selection was once again brought under the scanner with no Chris Gayle and Mujeeb Ur Rahman in the team. However, now fans should get ready to watch Universe Boss back in the team. And, Wasim Jaffer, KXIP’s batting coach has given a big update over the same.
Kings have lost three out of their four games in IPL 2020. The team looks way too dependent on the likes of Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul when it comes down to batting. And, in bowling KXIP heavily relies on Mohammed Shami and Sheldon Cottrell. With every defeat, the chances of Kings XI Punjab qualifying for the play-offs are getting bleak. The fans want players like Chris Gayle and Mujeeb Ur Rahman back in the side. And, everyone knows that they are big match winners. But, so far KXIP has given preference to Glenn Maxwell, Nicholas Pooran, Sheldon Cottrell, and Chris Jordan.
KXIP batting coach Wasim Jaffer gives a big update over Chris Gayle and Mujeeb Ur Rahman
In a recent interview, Wasim Jaffer was quizzed over the same. To which, the former Indian player said that Gayle and Mujeeb will be seen playing for KXIP very soon. He added that they are big match-winners and KXIP need such kind of players. Jaffer opined that they will plan on how to add the aforementioned duo in the team.
It is known that if Gayle and Mujeeb get into the team then two of the four overseas players will have to warm the bench. The 42-year-old looked optimistic over Gayle and Mujeeb playing the upcoming games for KXIP. He also recited that Maxwell will have to fire runs with the bat going ahead in the tournament.
“It should happen soon. As I said, it needs to happen sooner than later. We don’t want to bring them when every game is a must-win game. Hopefully, we will have those guys featuring soon,” said Jaffer in an interview with a leading Indian publication as quoted by KXIP official.
“I am hoping he plays quickly. We need match-winners, as many as possible. Not just for the next game, also for the rest of the tournament as he can easily win you four-five games on his own. We obviously need Maxwell to fire. That is a tricky one, choosing the four overseas players. We got some time off and we will put our mind to it if Gayle and Mujeeb come in, who will make way for them,” he added.
