Mohammad Kaif Gives Hint on Ashwin's Replacement Against CSK

Mohammad Kaif, the fielding coach of Delhi Capitals has revealed that Amit Mishra will replace Ravichandran Ashwin in the match against Chennai Super Kings. The Indian off-spinner sustained a shoulder injury during the KXIP game and there are still questions on his availability for the upcoming game.

R. Ashwin is one of these best off-spinners ever played in IPL. In the 2019 edition, he played for Kings XI Punjab. But, he was traded to DC ahead of the 13th season. He showed his form with the ball in his one over against his former franchise. He took two wickets at the cost of only two runs. However, on the final delivery of the over, he dived towards his right in an attempt to stop the ball and ended by getting injured. Soon, he was taken back to the pavilion with a sling guard in his hand.

“Ashwin is going for practice today and we haven’t taken a call yet if he is going to be available or not for tomorrow’s game. We will see how the practice goes. We are monitoring him very closely,” Kaif was quoted as saying in a video conference.

“If he is not fit to play tomorrow, we have Amit Mishra who is a very experienced player. He has been doing well in IPL. So yes, that’s a plus point in this squad that we have got a replacement ready,” he added.

Earlier, Ashwin had informed his fans about his injury through a post. Moreover, he said that everything is fine and he will be back on the field soon. The 34-year-old has taken 127 wickets in 140 appearences in the Indian Premier League.
