MS Dhoni misery with the bat continues in IPL 2020. He once again failed to finish the game for Chennai Super Kings. And, Brian Lara feels that although the former Indian skipper is reckoned as the finest finisher in the world. But, things at the moment are not going well in his favor in IPL 2020. Moreover, he asked Dhoni to back some other players to finish the game for the team.
CSK was to chase an average looking target of 168 runs against KKR. Shane Watson replicated his fine form with the bat quite convincingly. He notched his 2nd fifty in a row and stitched a brilliant partnership with Ambati Rayudu. CSK was well in the game and scored 90 runs in the first 10 overs. But in a dramatic comeback, KKR snatched the win from the jaws of CSK. Their spinners gave an exemplary performance in the match and restricted CSK from chasing down the target.
MS Dhoni scored only 10 runs off 12 balls before he was clean bowled by Varun Chakravarthy. Kedhar Jadhav once again failed to justify his position in the team. He scored 7 runs off 12 balls. In the end, Ravindra Jadeja tried his best with the bat. But, it was too late to get his team over the finishing line.
He notched 21 runs off 8 balls. And, CSK suffered their 4th defeat in IPL 2020. After the conclusion of the game, CSK team management and skipper MS Dhoni was trolled by the netizens for giving preference to Kedar Jadhav, who is quite consistent at performing poor for CSK this season.
Brian Lara feels things are not going well for MS Dhoni
Now, Brian Lara also echoed in the same voice. He said that MS Dhoni is a world-class player. But, at the moment things are not going well for him. He also suggested CSK skipper should back some other players in the side to finish the games. The former West Indies player also added that Dwayne Bravo can do that job very well for Chennai Super Kings. The star all-rounder has the experience of finishing the games.
“It’s a bit puzzling (Dhoni inability to finish). You feel that he has created that position where he can be flexible with himself but I think he needs to maybe look at some other players,” Lara was quoted as saying on Star Sports.
“They have played a couple of games where Dwayne Bravo, an all-rounder, hasn’t had an opportunity to bat. Scoring 58 runs in 10 overs but only losing 10 wickets, something is wrong,”
“He is a great finisher, no doubt about that. But things are not going right for him and I believe, some of the other players, look at Jadeja how he batted today, he came in when their chances were very slim. So, something he will have to work on, have steadier stuff,” he stated.
