SRH vs PBKS 27th Match Report

In a high-scoring encounter at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) secured a commanding 8-wicket victory over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 27th match of IPL 2025.

Chasing a daunting target of 246, SRH’s openers, Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head, laid the foundation for a record-breaking chase.

Punjab Kings Set a Mammoth Target

Opting to bat first, PBKS’s openers, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh, launched a ferocious attack, amassing 66 runs in just four overs. Arya’s quickfire 36 off 13 balls and Prabhsimran’s 42 off 23 provided a blistering start.

Captain Shreyas Iyer continued the momentum with a scintillating 64 off 30 deliveries, while Marcus Stoinis’s late onslaught, including four consecutive sixes in the final over, propelled PBKS to a formidable total of 245/6. Despite the onslaught, Harshal Patel stood out for SRH, claiming 4 wickets for 42 runs.

Abhishek Sharma’s Historic Knock Leads SRH’s Chase

Facing a steep target, SRH’s openers responded with an aggressive approach. Abhishek Sharma delivered a masterclass in T20 batting, scoring a remarkable 141 off just 48 balls, marking the highest individual score by an Indian in IPL history.

His innings was adorned with 10 sixes and 12 fours. Travis Head complemented him with a solid 60 off 35 balls, contributing to a 171-run opening partnership.

Despite Head’s dismissal, SRH maintained the momentum, with Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan guiding the team to victory with 5 balls to spare.
