Mumbai Indians’ star player Suryakumar Yadav is set to miss the initial matches of IPL 2024 due to ongoing rehabilitation for a sports hernia.
The 32-year-old has been out of action since December last year and is currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru.
Suryakumar Yadav’s recovery has been progressing positively, with help of suryakumar yadav wife but there are concerns about his readiness for the first two matches of MI in the upcoming IPL season.
MI is scheduled to begin its IPL 2024 campaign on Sunday, March 24, against Gujarat Titans, followed by a match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 27.
According to sources, the NCA medical team is cautious about clearing Suryakumar Yadav to play in the early matches of IPL 2024.
Despite the player’s efforts in Strength and Conditioning (S&C) routines, there has been no indication of his readiness for full-fledged batting practice, raising doubts about his match fitness.
The stylish right-hander’s last competitive match was a T20I against South Africa on December 14 and he also was absent during the DY Patil T20 Cup 2024.
While there is still time before MI’s first match, the clock is ticking for Suryakumar Yadav to regain full fitness.
His availability for the early matches of IPL 2024 remains uncertain, but the MI management and fans will be hoping for his swift recovery to bolster the team’s chances in the tournament.
Suryakumar Yadav’s absence could be a significant blow for MI, given his stellar performances in recent years. However, MI will be hoping that Suryakumar Yadav can recover quickly and make a return to the team later in the season.
His presence in the middle order will be crucial for MI’s chances of success in IPL 2024.
With a strike-rate of over 170 and 2,141 runs in 60 T20 matches, including four T20I centuries, he is a key player in India’s T20 set-up. His leadership was also crucial in India’s T20I series win against Australia.
MI and Indian cricket fans will be eagerly awaiting further updates on Suryakumar Yadav’s rehabilitation and hope to see him back in action soon.
