The much-awaited Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 finals was marred by rain and 28th May 2023 was completely washed out. Much to the disappointment of the cricketers, organizers and the fans, not even the toss could take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
However, there is a reserve day and play is likely to happen on 29th May 2023. Both the finalists in the form of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Gujarat Titans (GT) would be eagerly waiting with bated breath for rain to not play spoilsport.
In between the torrential and incessant rain, the Gujarat Titans players were seen enjoying a light-hearted moment at the stadium with the rain. All the players had a heart-warming moment and this was captured by the media team of IPL.
The video was doing the rounds on Twitter and several users commented positive things about it.
Gujarat Titans would be looking to defend their title
After having a perfect IPL 2022 where they lifted their title in the very first year of their existence, the Gujarat Titans side would be hoping to replicate the same in the IPL 2023 finals.
If they win the title then they will only be the 3rd team after Chennai and Mumbai Indians (MI) to successive defend their throne in the high-voltage IPL.
The likes of Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Shami have played an integral role in the performance of Gujarat in IPL 2023 and they will be looking to do the same on 29th May 2023.
Chennai Super Kings would be looking to give a perfect farewell to MS Dhoni
Though it is not official, in all likelihood, this will be the final season of MS Dhoni in the IPL. Having being involved right since 2008, MS Dhoni has carved a niche for himself in IPL. Dhoni has guided Chennai Super Kings to 9 IPL finals and he has won 4 out of them. Monday’s final will be his 9th final appearance for Chennai.
More interestingly, Chennai Super Kings have qualified for the playoffs on 11 occasions and it is the most by any franchise. This speaks volumes about the dominance of Chennai in IPL and they are nothing short of a juggernaut in the high-octane IPL.
MS Dhoni lifting the IPL trophy amidst a sea of CSK fans at Ahmedabad will be a picture-perfect moment. The world is patiently waiting for this moment to unfold.
