Neesham Joins Hobart Hurricanes

Jimmy Neesham, an all-rounder from New Zealand, has been signed by Hobart Hurricanes as an overseas replacement player for the upcoming Big Bash League season.

The Kiwi all-rounder will make his debut in Australia’s top T20 competition at this time. In September, Neesham renounced a key deal with New Zealand Cricket in order to fulfill his commitments to international domestic competitions.

In September, the hard-hitting Kiwi dasher turned down a central contract with New Zealand Cricket in order to honour his obligations to international domestic competitions. Neesham will play for the Hurricanes alongside veteran T20 international players Asif Ali, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Zak Crawley.

The Hobart Hurricanes will be seeking to break their duck in the next season after going 11 seasons without winning the coveted BBL trophy. Neesham, who has played for New Zealand in 60 T20 Internationals and amassed 688 runs at an amazing strike rate of 159.62, is eager to work in the BBL and make new acquaintances.

Tasmania is a bit like a mini New Zealand

“I’m really excited to be involved with the Big Bash for the first time this year. I’ve heard great things about the Hurricanes setup, and the list this year looks incredibly strong, so to be able to play even a small part in what I hope will be a successful tournament for the franchise is a really great opportunity for me,” Jimmy Neesham was quoted saying in an official statement by the Hobart Hurricanes.

“A lot of people say Tasmania is a bit like a mini New Zealand, so I’m looking forward to getting over there, meeting the guys, and playing the role that is asked of me for the team,” the Kiwi all-rounder added.
