In the third and final ODI against Bangladesh on Saturday in Chattogram, Virat Kohli scored his first ODI hundred in three years, off 85 balls. In the 39th over, Kohli made it there with a maximum over fine leg. On the other hand, Ishaan Kishan became the fourth player ever to score a double century in an ODI, after Sachin, Rohit, and Chris Gayle. To slam 210, Ishan just needed 131 balls.
On August 14th, 2019, against the West Indies, Kohli scored his most recent ODI century. Ishan Kishan, who scored the quickest ODI double hundred, amassed an astounding 290 runs for the second wicket with Virat Kohli in just 138 balls.
Kohli in the list of most international hundreds
In the list of hitters with the most international hundreds, Kohli has now surpassed Ricky Ponting of Australia, who had an incredible 72 international hundreds. He comes in second place to the legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, whose career ended with an astounding 100 international centuries. As of right moment, Kohli has 27 test tonnes, 44 ODI tonnes, and one T20I century.
Kohli recorded his first century in 1,021 days earlier this year during the Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates, when India defeated Afghanistan in Dubai. The 33-year-old scored an unbroken 122 from 61 balls as India made 212-2 from their 20 overs; the previous time he had reached a century was in a Test match against Bangladesh on November 23, 2019.
Kohli was dropped twice
In the third game of the three-match ODI series, Bangladesh National Cricket Team captain Litton Das twice dropped the catch of top Indian National Cricket Team batsman Virat Kohli.
Following Shikhar Dhawan’s departure in the fifth over, the 37-year-old opener’s third single-digit score in the current series, Kohli entered the batting order.
Litton Das, who caught a stunning ball to send Virat Kohli back in the first ODI, dropped a sitter at short midwicket on the third ball of the seventh over, which was bowled by the in-form Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Notably, while Kohli was batting with the score at 1, the Bangladeshi captain lost his catch.
On the first ball of the 19th over, which was bowled by left-arm bowler Mustafizur Rahman, Litton once again botched Kohli’s catch. Kohli played a drive after the bowler delivered a fullish delivery. The skipper of Bangladesh lunged to grab a catch while Kohli was at mid-off, but the third umpire ruled that the ball had obviously bounced and Kohli had survived.
