IPL 2023: 3 BIG Records Which Might Remain Unbroken

Date:

The Indian Premier League (IPL) is one of the world’s most popular cricket competitions. Some of the greatest records, both individually and collectively, have been set there. Some records that have been established have stood the test of time. These records range in size, and some may never be broken.

In all completed 15th season of IPL, teams, and individuals have achieved some amazing feats on the pitch over the years. Although some of the records may not be broken in the IPL for many years to come, the proverb “records are meant to be broken” states so. Know about the top three IPL records that may stand forever.

Chris Gayle’s highest individual score – 175

In a match in 2013 on the flat pitch of the smaller M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Chris Gayle, probably the greatest T20 hitter of all time, unleashed his fury on the helpless Pune Warriors bowlers.

On his way to his epic assault of 175 unbroken runs from just 66 balls—the best individual score in a T20 game—Gayle struck the fastest T20 century off 30 balls. His innings featured 13 fours and 17 sixes, the most by a batsman in an IPL game. One of those IPL records that seem impenetrable is this one.

Given that bowlers and bowling captains now have different plans and strategies before a game and bowlers have been able to employ their variations intelligently, it is doubtful that this record will be beaten in the league.

Virat Kohli’s most runs in a single season – 973 runs

In the 2016 season, Virat Kohli, who was the RCB’s captain at the time, batted like a god. At the height of his powers, Kohli scored 973 runs in that season, just shy of the elusive 1000-run milestone, while smashing 4 hundred and 7 half-centuries. He guided RCB to the championship game, but they fell to SRH.

David Warner scored 848 runs during the 2016 season, which was the second-best season for a batsman but was still well behind Kohli. Another record that is unlikely to be broken is Kohli’s record of 4 tonnes in 2016 for the most hundreds in a season. One of those IPL records that will require a herculean effort to topple is this one.

The longest victory streak for KKR – 10 games

The Kolkata Knight Riders, led by Gautam Gambhir, are among the best T20 cricket teams, having won two IPL championships and been to the Champions League final.

In the IPL in 2014–15, KKR has the longest winning run of any team with 10 straight victories. In 2014, KKR produced a spectacular run of 9 victories, including the championship, after winning just 2 of their first 7 games. Prior to losing their second game, which halted their streak, they had a winning streak of 10 games to begin the 2015 campaign.
