Mukesh Kumar, an uncapped Bengal pacer who was born in Bihar, has at last been signed to an IPL contract. Delhi Capitals paid him Rs 5.5 crore to acquire his services for the IPL 2023 Auction. Notably, Mukesh has been a reliable performer for Bengal and was a net bowler for the Delhi Capitals.
The bidding battle for Mukesh, whose base price was Rs 20 lakh, was launched by Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings. As soon as the bidding exceeded Rs 2 crore, Punjab Kings joined the contest. DC persisted in their offer and was able to retain his services for Rs 5.5 crore.
Mukesh, a native of Gopalgunj, Bihar, struggled greatly in the early years of his playing career after relocating to Kolkata. Mukesh finished as Bengal’s top pacer in the Ranji Trophy, taking 20 wickets at an average of 24.75.
