The IPL 2023 auction is all set to be held on December 23 in Kochi, and all 10 franchises are bracing themselves to secure the best deals. This time, 405 cricketers, including 273 Indians and 132 foreign players, could be auctioned off.
Every franchise has a different need, and they all want to look at every possibility during the auctions. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will look for one player to serve as their team’s captain throughout the upcoming season. Notably, the 2016 IPL champions parted away with Kane Williamson after he struggled in the prior season of the lucrative competition.
Irfan Pathan, a former Indian cricket player, has selected Kane Williamson’s ideal replacement at Sunrisers Hyderabad by supporting one of India’s best batters in the run-up to the mini-auction (SRH).
They need an aggressive opener
Former Indian all-rounder Irfan said that SRH will like to acquire opener Mayank Agarwal as their new captain as they prepare to participate in the mini-auction.
“SRH will go after Mayank Agarwal because they need a kind of aggressive opener as well. They don’t have Kane Williamson right now who led them for many years as an experienced player and who used to open the innings as well. Mayank Agarwal is the kind of guy who has led a side, who plays quite freely as well, very fearless, very selfless. They might be thinking of him going forward as a leader as well,” Pathan shared his views on the Star Sports show Game Plan.
PBKS released Mayank Ahead Of IPL 2023
Prior to the mini-auction, Punjab Kings (PBKS) released the premier opener, Agarwal. Shikhar Dhawan, a seasoned opener, has been named the new franchise captain for the IPL 2023 season by Punjab Kings. Agarwal will appear in the first round of the IPL 2023 auction after previously representing teams like Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Delhi Capitals (DC), and Rising Pune Supergiant.
