India Will Miss Ishant Sharma Very, Very Badly In Australia

Indian pacer Ishant Sharma and spinner Ravi Ashwin were on fire with the ball on Day-4 of the Chennai Test. They were the reason why hosts managed to castle England’s batting line-up for a score of 178 runs in 2nd innings. It was a memorable day for the Indian duo, who achieved several milestones. Ishant Sharma became the 2nd Indian pacer to take 300 Test wickets. Also, Ravi Ashwin managed his 28th five-wicket haul. After the game, the latter praised the Indian pacer for achieving a rare feat and revealed a rare chat with the pacer.

England was in a decent position to take a lead of more than 500 runs. But, they failed in taking such a big lead. Courtesy with Ravi Ashwin and Ishant Sharma, who were simply unplayable with the ball at Chepauk. Ashwin took a wicket on the maiden ball of the 2nd innings and the final wicket as well. He registered brilliant bowling figures of 6 for 61.

During the virtual conference, Ravi Ashwin said that Ishant Sharma is one of the most hard-working players in the dressing room. He added that the Delhiite has worked hard for more than a decade in order to improvise his game.

“Look, Ishant has been one of the most hard-working cricketers, that I have seen in that Indian team dressing room.

“He has worked extremely hard, for more than just one reason, because being that tall (6 ft 4 inch) itself requires a lot of facets to be managed through a career which is spanned out through almost 14 years now,” said Ashwin, who himself, is 14 wickets short of the 400-mark.

Ashwin also extends his wishes to Ishant Sharma. He wanted the Indian pacer to go on and take 400 or 500 wickets in order to set a benchmark for the upcoming bowlers. Meanwhile, he revealed a short conversation he had with the 32-year-old on Day-4. The Indian spinner said that he told Ishant that the latter will not bowl in the innings. To which he replied in his own humorous style.

“Today, I jokingly told him that you won’t get a bowl. He (Ishant) said that’s ok because he was really tired. He is a man with a funny streak,” added Ashwin.
