The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction is all set to begin tomorrow at Kochi. The teams have formulated all their plans and strategies and they will be looking to get hold off some players who can cover their last season’s loopholes. All eyes will be on the 10 franchises tomorrow as the mini-IPL auction is set to take place from 2:30 PM (IST) at Kochi.
Heading into the IPL 2023 auction, there are a few teams which are better placed than the other teams. This can be for two reasons. Firstly, it can be because of their purse remaining. The more amount of money a team has before the IPL 2023 auction, the more amount of money they can invest on the players. Secondly, it can also be because of their players retained. Some teams have reposed faith in their existing crop of players and they will be taking guard in the IPL 2023.
In this article, we take a look at 3 better placed teams ahead of the IPL 2023 auction which will be taking place at Kochi:
1. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)
SRH has the biggest purse heading into the IPL 2023 auction. They have a whopping Rs. 42.25 crores left in their kitty and they are certainly placed better than the other teams. Even though they have released their former skipper Kane Williamson, the Orange Army has retained a few quality players. Some of them include Rahul Tripathi, Washington Sundar and Aiden Markram. The SRH franchise would be looking to get hold off a few good players and also a good captain in the upcoming auction.
2. Punjab Kings (PBKS)
Punjab is yet to win a single IPL title and they would be hoping to break that jinx in this upcoming IPL 2023. They have Rs. 32.2 crores remaining in their purse and they would be hoping to bag a few good deals at the auction table. Punjab Kings has their task cut out as they would be primarily looking to get a skipper, having released Mayank Agarwal into the auction pool.
3. Gujarat Titans (GT)
Defending champions Gujarat has mostly retained their core set of players and look like a very balanced outfit ahead of the IPL 2023 auctions. The only big name missing in their ranks is Lockie Ferguson as the out-and-out fast bowler has been traded to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). With a purse of Rs. 19.25 crores remaining, they have the potential to buy a few good players.
