Andre Russell and Tanvir Sangha are currently playing for their respective sides in the ongoing edition of Big Bash League 2020-21. And, they both were left smiling in a match on Sunday when Russell survived after the ball hit the stumps because bails didn’t fall off.

Andre Russell is plying his traits for Melbourne Stars and spinner Tanvir Sangha is playing for Sydney Thunders. Both the aforementioned teams fought hard to grab a win. But, Stars had the last laugh as they ended up winning the game by 6 wickets.

Andre Russell Survived against Tanvir Sangha in the BBL 2021-22

The spectators witnessed a premium level of cricket. But, one instance that hogged the spotlight was when Thunders spinner Sangha almost dismissed Russell. However, he survived only because bails didn’t fall off.

Sangha had already dismissed star players like Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis in that game. He was bowling in really good form until Russell took the crease. The moment latter took the field everything changed for Melbourne Stars.

Russell smashed Thunder bowlers all across the park from the word go. And, the highlighting instance happened in the 15th over of Stars innings.

Sangha bowled a loopy delivery and Russell’s eyes lit up and he tried to open his arms in order to go for a big six. But, West Indies all-rounder failed in getting his timing right. The ball took an inside edge and ended up hitting the stump. However, Russell didn’t walk towards the pavilion and started laughing because bails didn’t move from their place.

Later on, Andre Russell himself said, “The ball hit the stump like hard… happy to still be batting and have a laugh about it,” Russell said.

Andre Russell smashed 42 runs off 21 balls against Sydney Thunder and ended up winning the game for his team in the Big Bash League 2021-22
