The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is currently mulling over conducting the Women’s Indian Premier League (WIPL) entirely in Mumbai, as an experiment that will include a replica of the IPL from the previous year. Although the choice has not yet been officially announced, a member of the IPL Governing Council disclosed the plans.
The event is scheduled to take place from March 3 to March 26. Additionally, since the IPL will resume its home-and-away format in the first week of April, preparation won’t affect the original IPL venues.
The Board believes that teams would travel less if there were three venues available in Mumbai: Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium in addition to the MCA Stadium in Gahunje, Pune.
Mumbai is being explored because it would reduce the amount of travel. The BCCI is unsure of how the stakeholders, primarily the broadcasters and the franchises, will react to the WIPL because it is still a relatively new commodity.
