When UP Warriorz inflicted a crushing 10-wicket defeat over Royal Challengers Bangalore, the entire spotlight came on the captain of UP, Alyssa Healy. And why would it not. She scored an unbeaten knock of 96* runs. But the other opener in the form of Devika Vaidya too impressed with her batting skills.

The opener scored a rock-solid knock of 36* runs in 31 balls. Even though she played second-fiddle to her captain, her knock was equally good and was a knock that underlined a lot of maturity.

Vaidya was named as the best women’s junior cricketer in the MA Chidambaram Trophy in the year 2014-15.

The all-rounder represents Maharashtra in the domestic league games of women’s cricket and is an integral part of her state team.

She has decent experience in the international level

The all-rounder has so far played 9 ODIs and 13 T20Is for India. She has mustered 169 and 89 runs respectively in the two formats. She has bagged 6 wickets in each format for India. Devika Vaidya is quite a dependable player and is extremely versatile.

The all-rounder bagged a whopping deal of Rs. 1.4 crores in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2023 auctions. One of the main reasons why she got such a lucrative deal is the fact that she is one of the most versatile all-rounders presently in the Indian circuit.

She not only can open the innings but can also play in the middle-order. Devika is a solid middle-order batter who can play the big shots with absolute ease. She is also a wily bowler who can bowl some superb deliveries and spells.

It remains to be seen if Devika Vaidya can continue her good form in the WPL 2023. UP Warriorz are presently 3rd in the WPL 2023 points table. They are behind Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals.

The Allysa Healy led side next cross swords with table-toppers Mumbai Indians tomorrow. It will be starting from 7:30 PM (IST) and will be played at the Brabourne Stadium.

After their confidence-boosting 10-wicket victory over the Smriti Mandhana led Royal Challengers Bangalore side, UP Warriorz would be hoping to present a strong challenge against Mumbai.
