The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) finally orchestrated their first win in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) after they beat UP Warriorz by 5 wickets.
After 5 defeats, the team finally managed to get hold of their first win. And middle-order batter Kanika Ahuja played a pivotal role in the win.
Chasing a modest total of 136 runs, RCB huffed and puffed during the initial phase of the innings.
The barren run of skipper Smriti Mandhana continued as she got out for a duck.
Sophie Devine and Ellyse Perry too departed cheaply and RCB were in danger waters.
That’s when Kanika Ahuja displayed oodles of maturity and made sure that the team orchestrates their first win.
She scored 46 runs in 30 balls and counter-attacked the UP Warriorz bowlers really well. Her innings was peppered with 8 fours and 1 six.
Incidentally, this is also the highest score in WPL 2023 so far by an uncapped batter.

Kanika Ahuja scored 305* in an inter-district tournament
The talented youngster hogged the limelight when she scored 305* in the Punjab Inter-District Women’s Senior One-Day Tournament, while playing for Patiala.
This happened in September 2022 and she was the cynosure of all eyes.
This was an innings of the highest order and the youngster had fired on all cylinders in this tournament.
She is just 20 years of age
Kanika Ahuja is yet to play in the Indian cricket team and is a youngster. One of the most talented youngsters in the present set-up of India, she is definitely one for the future.
Kanika Ahuja should be groomed well and the selectors should keep an eye on her.
Her coach’s name is Kamal Sandhu. Kanika Ahuja’s father name is Surinder Kumar and her mother’s name is Komal Ahuja.
She has a brother whose name is Tushar Ahuja. The RCB player is extremely close to her family.
Playing Style
Kanika Ahuja is a hard-hitting southpaw and plays in the middle-order. When the team is in distress, Ahuja can counter-attack and bail the team out of the precarious situations they are in.
She can also bowl right arm off-break bowling and is a canny bowler as well.
Schooling
Kanika Ahuja did her schooling from the Sri Aurobindo International School in Patiala, Punjab.
She then studied in the Hindu College Amritsar in Dhab Khatikhan. Her qualification is Bachelors in Arts.
