The Hockey India League (HIL) 2024-25 auction kicked off in New Delhi on Sunday. The tournament will run from December 28, 2024, to February 1, 2025, and includes both men’s and women’s competitions.
Matches will be held at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astroturf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi and the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium in Rourkela.
With over 550 players available, including 400 Indian and 150 international athletes, the excitement is palpable.
On the opening day, Indian captain Harmanpreet Singh emerged as the most expensive player, ultimately being acquired by Soorma Hockey Club for a staggering INR 78 lakh.
Other notable signings included Abhishek Nain moving to Shrachi Rarh Bengal Tigers and Hardik Singh joining UP Rudras.
Each franchise is allowed to assemble a squad of 24 players, which must consist of at least 16 Indian players, including a minimum of four junior players, alongside eight international stars.
