Australia lock horns with India for the 2nd Test from 6th December 2024 to 10th December 2024. This match promises to be a crackerjack of a contest as India look to consolidate their lead in the ongoing Test series.

But Australia would be confident of staging a comeback in the 2nd Test match at Adelaide Oval as this was the same venue where the Ozzies humbled India to 36 all-out in the previous Test series between these two sides in Australia.

Skipper Rohit Sharma will be returning to the playing XI and so would be Shubman Gill. On the other hand, Australia suffered a big blow as star pacer Josh Hazlewood is out of the 2nd Test because of a “low-grade left-side injury”.

In this article, we take a look at 3 reasons why India can win the 2nd Test match at the Adelaide Oval:

    1. The absence of Josh Hazlewood

It will be for the first time since the Sydney Test in 2015 that Australia will be without the services of one of their 4 generational quartet bowlers. The likes of Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon and Pat Cummins are available for the 2nd Test but Josh Hazlewood would be missing out.

Scott Boland is all likelihood to replace Hazlewood and those will be big shoes to replace. Australia have played out a wrong card as Boland had bowled to India in the PM XI game.

    2. India won the 1st Test

Against all the odds, India came out all guns blazing and defeated the hosts at their own backyard. The likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal shone with the ball and bat and made sure that India continue their good run in the red-ball format in Australia.

India were under the pump after their shock 0-3 loss at the hands of New Zealand in the home Test series prior to this. But under the captaincy of stand-in-skipper Jasprit Bumrah, India staged a remarkable turnaround.

    3. Rohit Sharma comes back into the playing XI

After missing out on the 1st Test at Perth because of parental leave, Rohit Sharma is all set to come back into the playing XI of the Indian cricket team. The Indian captain is a towering figure in the batting department and would be keen on scoring a lot of runs.

His presence can be intimidating for the opposition bowlers and he will play an instrumental role for the Indian cricket team at Adelaide Oval.
