‘Want To Make My Own Name In Indian Cricket,’- Rishabh Pant On Getting Compared With MS Dhoni

Rishabh Pant returned to India after a dream tour of Australia. He performed audaciously well with the bat throughout the Border-Gavaskar series. And, he played one of the most important knocks for his side on Day-5 at The Gabba that helped Team India in winning the series decider by a margin of three wickets. He is full of confidence and expected to perform well in the upcoming series. Now, the southpaw has himself said that he doesn’t want to get compare with former Indian skipper MS Dhoni and wants to earn his name in international cricket.

Pant was picked in the side back in 2019 during World Cup. Since then he has been looked as like for like replacement of MS Dhoni, who bid adieu to all forms of cricket on August 15, 2021. He has struggled a lot donning the national jersey in the last year. But, he has found his peach touch in the batting during the Border-Gavaskar series.

Rishabh Pant Feels It Is Wrong To Compare Youngster With Indian Legend MS Dhoni

After performing well against Australia, there are voices taking round that he will be an apt replacement for MS Dhoni. During an interaction, he was quizzed over the same by a reporter that how it feels to be compared with MS Dhoni. To which, the Delhiite replied that it is a special feeling for him as a player. But, he wants to earn a name for himself in Indian cricket. Also, he asserted that

“It feels amazing when you compare someone like MS Dhoni. It feels good for me to be compared with him. But I don’t want me to be compared with anyone. I want to make a name for myself in Indian cricket. That’s the only thing I am focused on. Because it’s not too good to compare a legend with a youngster,” Pant told reports in New Delhi.

The young Indian batsman becomes the top-ranked wicketkeeper in international cricket. But, he asserted that he didn’t know much about ranking. And, his only job is to win more and more games for the country.

“I feel good but I didn’t know about the ranking. My only job is to win matches for India,” Pant said.
