Shubhman Gill, the right-handed Indian batsman has performed decently since his debut. But, in the ongoing Test series, he is yet to show his caliber with the bat. In the ongoing pink-ball Test, he was dismissed at a score of 11 runs against Jofra Archer. Now, Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian cricketer has come up with an upfront opinion.
The right-handed opener made his international debut against Australia. He has recorded 352 runs in 5 games with the help of 3 fifties. The young opener has the highest score of 91 runs that he amassed against Australia during the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21.

Sunil Gavaskar, the former Indian player said that Shubhman Gill smoked some beautiful boundaries with the willow. He added that the youngster ended up playing some wrong strokes due to which he had to pay the price for the same. As per him, the 21-year-old managed hard work in the first few session. But, he ended up losing his concentration towards the end.
“He cracked a couple of beautiful boundaries and got out. Wrong shot selection and well his confidence is going to be dented. Sometimes when you have done all the hard work, then you have got to keep doing that again.
The former player feels that Shubhman Gill played an irresponsible stroke against the likes of Jofra Archer in the match as his ball skids a lot in the game.
“This is not the kind of shot you would hope to get away against a bowler of Jofra Archer’s pace because Archer has got the ability to skid,” Gavaskar said while speaking on the show Cricket Live on host broadcaster Star Sports.
Coming onto the match, Team India lost three wickets on Day-1 and England managed only 112 runs in the 1st innings.
