BCCI To Shift IPL 2021 To Mumbai, Wankhede, Brabourne And DY Patil Stadium To Host IPL Games: Reports

Date:

IPL 2021 has been hit with the second wave of coronavirus as two players test positive. Meanwhile, the cases have been emerged from the two venues that are currently hosting IPL games. So, keeping the current state in light, BCCI is expected to shift the whole season to Mumbai. However, the Indian cricket board is yet to come up with an official announcement.

On Monday, the cricket world was rocked after KKR bowlers’ Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier were tested positive of coronavirus. And, this update postponed the game between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore until further notice.

Reports: IPL 2021 Likely To Be Shifted To Mumbai

Meanwhile, the voice to cancel the tournament became more strong with BCCI under immense pressure to take a quick decision on the future of IPL 2021. As per ESPNcricinfo reports, Board Control For Cricket In India is busy finding ways to get back to their original plan to organize IPL season in Mumbai.

But, BCCI has a much bigger problem to solve in order to make their plan work. They will have to find hotels for the eight respective teams for their stay. The board will have to make sure that the bio-bubble should not get breached once again.

BCCI will be relieved with the fact that stadiums in Mumbai are enough fit to host IPL games from the word go. The top preferences for the board will be Wankhede Stadium, Brabourne Stadium, and DY Patil Stadium for the IPL 2021.

This plan to shift IPL 2021 to Mumbai also looks advisable because Mumbai recorded the least number of cases since March in the last weak. There is a sudden drop in the number of positive cases and the situation is coming under control.

Currently, the seocnd leg of the tournament is going on in Delhi and Ahmedabad. After this IPL 2021 will head to Bangalore and Kolkata. And, BCCI will have to take quick action ahead of the upcoming week and the chances are high that the board will take a U-turn and shift the tournament to Mumbai.
