India suffered a historic defeat against Pakistan in their T20 World Cup opening campaign. They lost the group stage game by a big margin of 10 wickets. The Men in Green played at their best and outclassed Team India with sheer dominance.
The Indian top-order flopped poorly and there were questions raised on the team selection for such a crucial game. Post-match, the Indian skipper was quizzed over the same and he replied quite bluntly to one of the reporters in the conference.
India lost the toss and were asked to bat first by Pakistan. Certainly, Men in Green pacer bowled exceedingly well from the word go in the match. Left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi gave a big blow to Team India by dismissing in-form opener, Rohit Sharma.

Later on, Afridi clean bowled KL Rahul on an exceptional delivery. The Men in Blue were set on the backfoot but Virat Kohli played a stupendous knock of 57 runs and guided his team to a respectable total of 151 runs. Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant also played a vital knock of 39 runs off 30 balls. Rest other batters in Team India failed in clicking a good show with the bat.
It looked Indian bowling unit might easily defend the target. But that was not the case and they couldn’t even manage to grab a single wicket in the match. The star opening partnership of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam made the target look very small and chased it with 13 balls to spare. And, this was the first-ever win of Pakistan over Team India in a T20 World Cup.
On the other hand, the biggest question after the match was why Ishan Kishan was not picked in the team. The southpaw showed top-notch form with the bat in the warm-up games for Team India. In the post-match conference, one of the Pakistan reporters quizzed Virat Kohli over the same.
He asked Virat Kohli that why Ishan Kishan didn’t play in the match against Pakistan. To which Indian skipper bluntly responded saying that how anybody can drop a player like Rohit Sharma. He also added that the team he selected was the best as per him.
“It is a very brave question, what do you think sir? Because I played the XI I thought was the best. What do you think? What is your opinion? You will drop Rohit Sharma from T20 internationals? Do you know what he did in the last game?” Kohli said before taking a pause.
“Unbelievable. Sir, if you want controversy, tell me before so that I can answer accordingly.” Kohli
