Aakash Chopra opines that there is very little chance of Bhuvneshwar Kumar getting picked for Team India in the near future after sensational performances that were given by the likes of Shardul Thakur, and Deepak Chahar. Bhuvneshwar Kumar didn’t had a good outing to South Africa as he struggled to take wickets with the ball.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, one of India’s prime pacers is now looking like a liability for Team India. He has got injured on many occasions in IPL and international cricket. And, after recovering from injuries he has not looked in the very best shape with the ball.
Aakash Chopra points towards Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s poor form
He has so far failed to give any brilliant performance with the ball on in the past 16 to 20 months. On the other hand, Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar have both impressed with their bowling and batting. The former performed exceptionally well in Australia and South Africa. Meanwhile, Deepak Chahar has shown a glimpse of a promising all-rounder within the limited chances he has got so far.
Deepak Chahar was on fire with the bat in the final ODI against South Africa. He smoked 51 runs off 34 balls and almost guided the Indian side to their maiden win in the ODI series. However, his dismissal saw Men in Blue losing the game by 4 runs.
Aakash Chopra in one of the video of his YouTube channel said that Bhuvneshwar Kumar needs some break and needs to rethink his bowling. As per him, this has nothing to do with how Deepak Chahar and Prasidh Krishna have performed. But, Bhuvneshwar Kumar has struggled with the ball in the past year or so.
The former Indian cricketer feels Bhuvneshwar Kumar never looked threatening against South Africa batsmen. He looked fully out of touch and this might sideline him from white-ball cricket going ahead in the near future. As per him, he finds it very difficult for the right-handed pacer to make a place for himself in Team India’s white-ball cricket.
“Well, not because Deepak Chahar has bowled or batted well today (in the 3rd ODI). It looks like Bhuvneshwar needs a break. He can’t walk into the time the next time India is playing white-ball cricket. As simple as that. That has very little to do with what Deepak or Prasidh Krishna has done,
“Bhuvneshwar hasn’t been sharp or incisive in the last 16-20 months.
“So it’s a good thing that Deepak Chahar has gotten an opportunity and picked up a couple of wickets. But he still hasn’t bowled at the death. He has to bowl for long enough, bowl in different conditions and against different batters.
“Bhuvneshwar Kumar, I don’t see him getting picked in the near future in white-ball cricket. 50 overs or 20 overs,” Chopra added
